Bodega Carelli has been owned by the Carelli family since 1943, when Santos Carelli planted the first vineyards with high quality grapes for winemaking. Now the third generation of the family is involved in the project, under the watchful eye of Santos’s son, Enrique J Carelli, who continues to bring in new technology with the same entrepreneurial spirit as the founder.
The winery comprises a late 19th century building, recently restructured by the famous Bórmida-Yanzón studio, maintaining its original construction and countryhouse style, with high ceilings, wooden fl oors and decoration, plus glass skylights, all of which create an intimate environment for visitors.
The winery’s original capacity (890,000 litres) has increased steadily up to 4,500,000 litres. Tradition and technology work together in Bodega Carelli: the winery has oak barrels and small stainless steel
tanks, as well as the latest temperature-control technology.
All of these conditions guarantee the traceability of every single wine lot.
About the Mendoza Valley
The arid deserts of Mendoza were made fertile with a system of irrigation canals even before the Spanish arrived, but the region is still fairly dry, with the Andes blocking the moist air of the Pacific from penetrating. Vineyards are planted at fairly high elevations from 1,500 to 5,777 feet.
